An inattentive older driver of our instrumented vehicle (NIRVANA) approaches a lead vehicle (top panels) at more than over 30 mph (25 knots) and brakes hard (peak in the upper right plot) to avoid a rear-end collision. There is a corresponding dip in speed, as shown by the electronic data from the vehicle(lower panel). The severity of the braking triggered a DriveCam system to record the video of the event.
