Schematic Representation of the Role of the JAK/STAT Pathway in NMDAR-LTD
Stimulation of NMDARs leads to activation of JAK2 (phosphorylation) via a pathway involving Ca2+, PP2B and PP1. Activated JAK2 leads to activation of STAT3, which then translocates to the nucleus. STAT3 also has cytoplasmic actions, which are required for NMDAR-LTD. The 14 treatments in red all inhibit NMDAR-LTD, whereas the 4 treatments in blue do not.
