Maximum quantum yield of PSII (FV/FM) was measured as described in Table 3 and Methods. Each type of plant was grown from seeds on Murashige and Skoog (MS) or Murashige and Skoog + 2% Suc medium under moderate light (~80 μmol PAR photons m−2 s−1). Leaves from five separate plants were removed and immediately assayed.
