“Fast” reg1 suppressor mutations fst1 and fst2. (A) The fst1 and fst2 mutations suppress the slow growth caused by the lack of Reg1 and confer unusually rough colony morphology. Single cells of strains KY124 (reg1), KY118 (WT), KY127 (reg1 sak1), KY132 (reg1 fst1), and KY135 (reg1 fst2) were micromanipulated on YPD and grown for 4 days. The diameter of the reg1 colony is ∼1 mm. Size comparisons are to scale. (B) Tetrad analysis of fst1. (Top) Tetrad analysis of a control diploid heterozygous for reg1Δ (reg1 × WT). (Bottom) Tetrad analysis of a cross between fast-growing isolate KY130 (reg1 fst1) and wild-type strain KY119 (WT). The cells were grown on YPD medium for 4 days.
