Carbonic anhydrase activity of P. marinus MED4 carboxysomes. The stopped-flow changing-pH-indicator assay (21) was used to measure rates of CO2 hydration in isolated P. marinus MED4 (■) and H. neapolitanus carboxysomes (▲) and compare them with the rates in the uncatalyzed reaction (●). The amounts of P. marinus MED4 and H. neapolitanus carboxysomes used corresponded to a 0.20 μM CsoSCA concentration, as determined by percent composition data (Table 1).
