Table 4.

The effect of proline-to-alanine mutations on the permeabilizing ability of DesHDAP1 and DesHDAP3. Propidium iodide, a membrane impermeable DNA intercalator, can enter bacterial cells only after membrane disruption. Data is presented as the ratio of propidium iodide fluorescence at 617 nm 5 minutes after addition of 2 μM peptide to the fluorescence before peptide addition. Uncertainty is reported as standard deviation.
