(C) Schematic of nicotine induced monocyte adhesion on endothelial cells. Nicotine stimulation results in α7-nAChR/β-Arr-1/Src/Raf-1-Rb/E2F1 mediated transcriptional upregulation of E-selectin in HAECs. Targeting β-Arr1, Src or E2F1 suppressed the expression of E-selectin which results in decreased monocyte adhesion.
