Adenovirus (1010 particles/ml in PBS) was pre-incubated with indicated concentrations of heparin for 30 min at room temperature and added to heparan sulfate-coated plates. The plates were incubated for 1 hour at room temperature and, after removal of unbound virus, attached virus particles were subjected to DNA-extraction for analysis by real-time PCR. Data are presented as the percentage attached virus particles relative to the total amount of added virus particles. Means (±SEM) of three independent experiments are shown (each condition performed in duplicate). *, P<0.05 versus 0 mg/ml heparin. Note that the Y-axis scale is different for MAV-1 (left) and Ad5 (right).
