Serum starvation of human SH-SY5Y dopaminergic neuroblastoma cells cultured without FCS elicits strong PARKIN mRNA level changes. SH-SY5Y dopaminergic neuroblastoma cells were cultured in RPMI medium containing 10% FCS (RPMI + FCS) or no serum (RPMI − FCS). At the indicated time points, the different transcripts were quantified and normalized for each stage of starvation to nonstarvation (RPMI + FCS) at time 2 h. Strong PARKIN mRNA level changes occurred as well as an upregulation of PINK1 mRNA; SGK1 and FOXO3a: n = 3; PINK1 and PARKIN: n = 4
