Values are means ± 95% confidence intervals expressed as –Log (pKb or pA2). For each specimen, the affinity of the muscarinic receptor antagonists was determined as described in materials and methods for inhibiting carbachol-induced bladder contraction. The determined value was compared with the published affinity of the M2 and M3 receptors for the antagonists. If the determined affinity (95% confidence range) overlaps the range of the reported values for either subtype, the subtype within the range is shown in parenthesis after the affinity value. If the determined value (95% confidence interval) is between the reported range for the two subtypes or within the range of both subtypes, this affinity value is considered intermediate (INT) between the two subtypes.
