Left premotor cortex and bilateral somatosensory cortex (SC) showed greater activity for near than far comparisons. (B) Number type by distance interaction. There was a significant interaction of distance with number type in the right temporal–occipital fusiform cortex (TOF), reflecting greater deactivation for near than far comparisons for positive numbers, and greater deactivation for far than near comparisons for the negative numbers.
