AICAR prevents the inhibition of insulin-stimulated PKB/Akt phosphorylation caused by leucine. EDL muscles were preincubated with 100 μmol/l leucine for 30 min and then AICAR for 1 h. They were then incubated with insulin (10 mU/ml) for 10 min. Muscle lysates were analyzed for PKB/Akt using SDS-PAGE and quantified as described in research design and methods.
