Mean age, mean (SEM) values of the in situ (at the pleural surface) peak rarefactional pressure pr(insitu) and in situ peak compressional pressure pc(insitu) and their respective lesion occurrence and mean (SEM) values of the lesion depth and surface area. All rats were exposed to pulsed ultrasound (1-kHz PRF, 10-s ED, 1.3-μs PD). The sham exposure conditions used a pulse repetition frequency of 10 Hz. Mean values of the Mechanical Index (MI), as measured according to the applicable standard (ODS 1998), are provided because the MI is a regulated quantity of diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
