Example of the stimuli displayed on the computer screen for stereoscopic experiment II. By looking at the stimulus through the stereoscope, subjects fused both images within a single plaid (the right eye looked at the right plaid and the left eye at the left plaid). Here the green bars are displaced to the right by 0.4°, making them appear in depth behind the rest of the stimulus.
