Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus ORF57 stabilizes PAN RNA in the nucleus. ORF57 binds to the ORF57 response element (ORE) in the 5′ of the KSHV PAN RNA, stabilizing PAN, and increasing expression. Additionally, ORF57 is able to redistribute PABPC1 to the nucleus, as well as PABPC1 being able to bind to the ORE, possibly explaining the stabilizing ability of the ORF57–PABPC1 interaction on PAN RNA.
