a.) Input-output curves of evoked field potential slope in response to stimulation of the angular bundle. X-irradiated animals (red lines) exhibit decreased responses to perforant path input compared with sham animals (blue lines) (n=19 X-ray, 17 sham animals; p < 0.05, repeated measures ANOVA over entire range). Inset: average hilar field potential responses at 100μA stimulation intensity. b.) Paired pulse facilitation was similar between the two groups, indicating no change in presynaptic function after irradiation. c.) Feedback inhibition was also unchanged, as assayed though paired-pulse inhibition of the second population spike when presented with two suprathreshold stimuli in rapid succession.
