Figure 3. hMSCs inhibit TNF-α secretion from macrophage-like cells more efficiently in the presence of IFN-γ.

When hMSCs were co-cultured with THP-1 macrophage-like cells for 24 hours in the presence of IFN-γ the decrease in TNF-α secretion was significantly greater when compared to co-culture in the presence of LPS. Results are represented as a mean±SD of co-cultures of eight different hMSC lines. The TNF-α concentration from supernatants of LPS and IFN-γ stimulated THP-1 macrophage-like cells alone were indicated as 100% and TNF-α concentration of supernatants from co-cultures with different hMSC lines were compared to that. Before experiment, THP-1 macrophage-like cells were differentiated 48 hours in PMA (100 ng/ml) supplemented medium as described in materials and methods. ** indicates two-sample t-test p-value p<0.01.
