Camptocormia is characterized by myofibrillar disorganization. Loss of oxidative enzyme reaction (a NADH reaction) accompanied by pathological acid phosphatase reactivity (c) are detectable but not in controls (b, d). Ultrastructurally, myofibrillar disorganization, Z-band streaming and electron-dense patches correspond to the light microscopic lesions (e semithin section, Richardson staining, f electron microscopy).
