Tbx1 in the POM (dark gray) indirectly promotes expression of RA metabolic genes Cyp26a1 and Cyp26c1 which, in turn, breakdown/inhibit RA signaling to the OV (light gray). During inner ear development, RA activates the expression of Adm in the CD and Myt1 in the CVG (black) while inhibiting expression of Dlx3 in the developing vestibular system and Otor and Clu expression in the CD.
