Switching rates for different cell volumes as a function of the energy barrier. Switching rates (computed from Eq (16)) of the stochastic system with intrinsic multiplicative noise for an adimensonal cell volume (circles) and for a larger volume (crosses). The energy barrier heights were calculated from Eq (3). Blue color corresponds to ON to OFF switching and green corresponds to OFF to ON switching. The asymmetry of the switching rates is observed for both volumes.
