Activity of liver microsomes (21 humans, R = F-344 rat and M = B6C3F1 mouse) to convert furan to NAC-BDA-NAL. Incubations were performed in triplicate in the presence of NAC and NAL to trap BDA as NAC-BDA-NAL. Furan (50 μM) was incubated with liver microsomes (0.5 mg/ml protein) in the presence of 8 mM NAC, 8 mM NAL, and an NADPH-regenerating system for 10 min at 37°C. Error bars represent S.E.
