Lumbar spinal cord tissue of scrapie inoculated hamsters was harvested at 28, 42, 55, and 70 days pi and subjected to Western blotting. Probing for PrP, Tf, and GFAP shows increase in expression with disease progression while ferritin shows minimal change despite significant astrogliosis (lanes 1–11). Re-probing for β-actin provides a control for protein loading.
