Spatially distinct patches are burned within the bison unit in spring, summer, and winter. Burn locations are not fixed and vary by year and season. Only perimeter fences are present, allowing bison free access to all burns. The fire–grazing interaction occurs as bison select between recently burned and areas with greater time since fire.
