Effective population size (Ne) and conservation priorities. NeLD is estimated on the basis of the marker–marker LD. Neutral diversity with principle of complementarity, presented by the cumulative number of neutral alleles (NC) when the first x subpopulations are combined, NC is the proportion of neutral alleles that would be conserved with the respective x breeds. Conservation priority estimated by maximization of total variability (cMVT) in comparison with contribution to a maximized genetic pool (cGDpool). NeLD is estimated based on the original set of 21 breeds or strains. All three conservation priorities are estimated for original and modified dataset. The modified dataset includes two metapopulations (MetaB1 and MetaB2), two depleted populations (RMBD and FVD), and 12 non-Buša breeds. MetaB1 and MetaB2 include random half of each of the nine Buša strains
