No significant differences were observed between treatment groups (P>0.05 for all comparisons). HSV denotes herpes simplex virus.

Race or ethnic group was determined by self-report. Other includes American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander. Data on ethnic group are reported in the Supplementary Appendix.

Risk-behavior questions were required only for subjects who responded “yes” to “ever had sex.” The most frequently reported responses are presented. Detailed summaries of risk behaviors are provided in the Supplementary Appendix.
