HMGR activity in the latex of wild-type (WT) and CPT-RNAi plants as determined by [3-¹⁴C]HMG-CoA incorporation assay. HMGR activity was calculated from the amount of labeled HMG-CoA incorporated into mevalonolactone mg⁻¹ protein h⁻¹, and the value of the wild type was set to 1. The values presented are from two independent experiments including three technical replicates ± sd. HMGR activity was significantly lower in the CPT-RNAi lines as calculated using Student’s t test (P < 0.01).
