The number of polymerases per gene is shown for four conditions: log phase, 10-min rapamycin, 30-min rapamycin, and post-log phase. Note the shift to lower average polymerase density with the increasing time of rapamycin treatment and also as cells leave logarithmic growth phase (post-log phase).
