Biofilm assays of cells grown in THB supplemented with fibrinogen on the surfaces of 96-well microtiter plates. Biofilms were grown and quantified as described in the text. The results shown are mean values of three independent experiments carried out in triplicate. The error bars indicate standard deviations. The expression of atl led to significantly increased biofilm formation (P < 0.05) by atl positive strain HA9801 and the Δatl complement strain compared to the Δatl mutant strain.
