The correlations for transmural apoptosis and subendocardium apoptosis were very significant (R² and P values for regressions are shown). In contrast, the correlation was weak in the subepicardium, and there was still no significant relationship between the amount of apoptosis and LV EF (%) (D), i.e., LV EF (%) did not decline with increasing amounts of myocyte apoptosis with chronic severe LVH.
