Recovery of Salmonella from the cecum, spleen, and liver of A/J mice inoculated intragastrically with S. Enteritidis strain E40 control cells (6.88 log₁₀ CFU) or filaments (4.76 or 5.77 log₁₀ CFU). Groups of six mice were euthanized at the indicated times, their tissues were removed, and the numbers of viable Salmonella were estimated by plate counts. Results are expressed as the mean ± SEM log₁₀ CFU per g (wet weight) of tissue.
