Dose-, size-, and differentiation-dependent toxicity of different nanoparticles in primary mixed neural cell cultures. Cytotoxicity of the following nanoparticles was tested via LDH viability assay after 24 h of exposure: 20 nm SNP (Ag₂₀Pep), 40 nm SNP (Ag₄₀Pep), and 20 nm GNP (Au₂₀Pep). In each experiment, four replicates per concentration were tested. The experiment was repeated three times. The data shown are mean values of three independent experiments (±SEM). For statistical analysis, the whole data set was analyzed with a MANOVA. In parallel, all groups have been compared individually with each other with a Student’s t-test. Significance is indicated by an asterisk.
