Motility and complex assembly defects are observed in PF6ΔN, PF6ΔM, and PF6ΔN+M strains which lack domains at the amino terminus of PF6. Single downward arrow indicates significant reduction (p < 0.01, Student’s t test). Double downward arrows indicate reduction that is greater than 50% of wild-type and highly significant (p < 0.001, Student’s t test).
