Abbreviations: ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; BDI, Beck Depression Inventory; DSM-IV, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder-IV; NA, not applicable; PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder; SPECT, single-photon emission computed tomography.

In all, 21 subjects ranging in age from 15 to 64 years previously underwent a psychiatric evaluation and brain SPECT imaging. A BDI score of 25 or greater results in the diagnosis of depression as defined by the DSM-IV criterion. An ‘x' in the category of depression, mood disorder or bipolar was given based on a diagnostic evaluation from a treating psychiatrist. The mean time from clinic visit to suicide was 18±22 months. The exact time of death data was unavailable for five of the subjects listed.
