The Error Awareness Task [EAT; Hester et al. (2005, 2012)]. Participants were required to make a speeded button press (“A”) to all incongruent stimuli (word and color not matching) and to withhold from responding to congruent stimuli or when a word was repeated on consecutive trials. Participants were also required to press a different button (“B”) as soon as possible following commission errors to indicate error awareness.
