Expression and localisation of AChE in hippocampal cultures. Endogenous expression of AChE was determined in fixed, permeabilised embryonic neurones with anti-AChE antibody and compared to the synaptic marker SV2a. In very young cells (4DIV), there was a high AChE expression in the soma and neuronal processes. In older neurones, there was extensive colocalisation, suggesting that AChE remained in synapses even after synapse formation. (B) Surface staining of AChE in postnatal cells.
