Primary human basophils were exposed to for 4 h to 1 µg/ml PGN or LPS (some of the samples were left untreated). Some of the cell samples (including TLR ligand treated and untreated) were then exposed to 0.1 µg/ml anti-IgE for 2 h. HIF-1α accumulation, VEGF, histamine and IL-4 release were analysed as described in Materials and methods. Quantitative data are mean values+S.D. of at least three individual experiments. * indicates p<0.01 vs. control. All Western blot data are from one experiment representative of three that gave similar results.
