Number of observations of male and female godwits, respectively, in each culmen size-class is presented in bracket in the top of each figure. The index of prey size was calculated by multiplying the number of prey consumed by a factor of 1 to 4, corresponding to increasing prey size class (small, medium, large and very large, respectively), and dividing this value by the number of consumed prey.
