a

T. gondii was harvested on human foreskin fibroblast culture, as described at http://sibleylab.wustl.edu/pdf/Toxo_Harvesting.pdf. Mean values are based on three independent experiments, with ratios calculated automatically using relative quantification software with qPCR efficiency specific for each T. gondii type.

b

Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test, with P < 0.05 considered significant.
