The soluble and the static gradients of MCP-1, when the initial concentration of MCP-1 in the top reservoir was 25 ng ml−1, were calculated using the mathematical model and the estimated values of the constants, DM|C and Kb. Fig. 6A shows the concentration of MCP-1 that is soluble in the collagen matrix, CM (z, t). Fig. 6B shows the concentration of MCP-1 that binds with the collagen matrix, CM·S (z, t).
