The degree of Ago-1 suppression on y ^3p variegation was measured by determining the colour of 80 marginal triple bristles between the first and second cross vein termini of wings. The percentage of suppression is determined by the increased number of yellow⁺ (black) bristles in Ago-1a/Ago1b relative to CyO/+
