KanS refers to the proportion of kanamycin-sensitive seeds resulting from mixed pollinations. Components of variance due to genetic differences among RILs (V_G) and error measures within RILs (V_E) were estimated from an ANOVA of MS values, where the dependent variable was either kanamycin sensitivity or seed set, and the random factor was RILs. Heritability (H²) was calculated as V_G/(V_G + V_E). The F ratio (MS_Trait/MS_Error) and resulting P value are also indicated.
