Immunohistochemical detection of the leptin receptor in adipose tissue. Adipose tissue from the epididymal fat pad was fixed in Bouin's fluid and embedded in paraffin. Five µm thick tissue sections were cut and submitted to the immunohistochemical detection of the leptin receptor using an anti-leptin receptor antibody and a fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated secondary antibody. Similar to the leptin signal (Fig. 1), the thin cytoplasmic rim surrounding the lipid droplet (L) and the perinuclear cytoplasmic region display a specific positive green fluorescent signal revealing the presence of the leptin receptor in the adipocytes.
