In fresh frozen rat brain sections, glucose-6-phosphate caused a generalized reduction in the accumulation of 45Ca2+. Treatment of fresh frozen brain sections with glucose-6-phosphate (10 mM) or thapsigargin (1 μM), revealed very similar pattern of generalized reduction in 45Ca2+ accumulation in gray and white matter. No regional specificity was observed, as the effect of both treatments appeared to be a diffuse response. Images are representative of n = 4.
