In situ hybridization was carried out at 2 days (a), 3 weeks (b) and 4 weeks (c). a: At 2 days, CXCL14 mRNA was predominant in the pyramidal cell layer (Py) and granular cell layer (Gr). The stratum radiatum (Rad) also exhibited strongly labeled cells. b, c: Later during development, only faint labeling was observed in the pyramidal (Py) and granular layers (Gr). CXCL14 expression was mainly confined to the stratum radiatum (Rad) and the subgranular layer (SGL) of the dentate gyrus. Similar expression pattern was observed at 3 and 4 weeks postnatally. d: Sections incubated with the sense probe did not show any signal, confirming the specificity of the anti-sense probe.
