Normalized transient absorption decays for Sepia eumelanin and synthetic pheomelanin at two different wavelength combinations: 810 nm pump, 750 nm probe and 750 pump, 810 nm probe. The signals were normalized for input laser intensities and pump absorbance. The Sepia eumelanin signal nearly vanishes when using 750 nm pump and 810 nm probe excitations indicating that excited state absorption is beginning to cancel out the effect of ground state depletion.
