(a) Total mandible length (MANDL) grew at similar rates in Papio and Pan troglodytes, but more slowly and to shorter adult lengths in Pan paniscus. (b) Posterior corpus length (POSTL), where the permanent molars develop, grew to the longest adult lengths at the fastest rates in Papio. The inverse was seen in P. paniscus.
