Effect of (a) cholesterol and (b) budesonide at various concentrations—0.1% (open square), 1.0% (open circle), and 10% (open triangle) of Curosurf phospholipids—on the compression isotherms of Curosurf (filled square). All preparations were spread as monolayers to an initial surface pressure (π) of 1–3 mN/m prior to compression. Surfactant films were compressed at an identical rate of 20 cm2/min until film collapse.
