(A) Guy11 and Δtps1 strains were grown for 10 days on minimal media containing 10 mM NH₄ ⁺ and either 10 mM or 55 mM (1%) glucose. Δtps1 strains grew better on 55 mM glucose. (B) Δtps1 strains were grown for 10 days on minimal media containing the indicated carbon and nitrogen sources. Better growth was obtained when an alternative carbon source to glucose – such as proline or glucosamine (GlcN) - was used.
