Macromolecular synthesis dependence of NGF withdrawal-induced apoptosis of neuronal PC12 cells. Differentiated PC12 cells were incubated without and with NGF (75 ng/ml) in the presence or absence of 1 μg/ml of the transcriptional inhibitor actinomycin D (ActD). Cell lysates were prepared after 24 h and assayed for nucleosomal DNA fragmentation (mean ± SD; n = 3). Similar data were obtained in three independent experiments.
