As described in the legend to Fig. 4, mice were inoculated with a mixture of wild-type (WT) Vcholerae and a ΔnnrS (A) or a ΔhmpA ΔnnrS (B) mutant. In the experiment shown in panel C, mice were inoculated with a mixture of the Vcholerae ΔhmpA and ΔhmpA ΔnnrS mutants and the competitive index is reported as the ratio of ΔhmpA ΔnnrS to ΔhmpA mutant colonies normalized to the input.
